This is really working well for me so far,
I got this for the “micro-purifying” bit because I’m admittedly kind of lazy in the winter at night washing my face before bed (it’s cold!) and the lack of a good cleansing at night wreaks havoc for me. This product (and I feel like I can validate this 100% after 3 weeks of use) is supposed to help prepare your skin perfectly for overnight treatment products (I started being faithful to Regenerist as well along with their cleanser). I keep getting more and more compliments every day on my skin and some recent pics from a party proved it to me beyond a doubt.

I bought this after going through the Olay website and having it recommended. It has a very nice, light scent, great lather, and is easy to rinse. It leaves my face feeling smooth and clean, but not tight. I am almost 40 and wanted something a little gentler than the stuff I have been using. I am very prone to acne and after the initial breakout you get whenever you try something new, my face has been clear -I even got a complement. The first in years. I use it with two other products that were recommended by Olay and am very satisfied. I am one that had spent the $80 on Lancome and see no reason to go back. I actually like this combination of products better. I would list the other products I am using, but instead recommend visiting the olay website and entering your own preferences to get a combination that will work best for you.

|good wash- a bit disappointing,
I am using the regnerist lines and getting great results. I am somewhat disappointed with this wash since I expected a foaming wash as it is labelled. It is more like a creamy liquid soap wash very little lather and definitely not foam, a different feel and after effect than a real foaming wash. I don’t get that really clean feeling and I have very oily skin. This was recommended for my skin profile on the Olay site, however despite not being a real foam cleanser, I am still using it (about 10 days)- and expecting it will do what it is supposed to.
4 stars only, due to the disappointment in expectations. Will update review when this bottle is done.

Years ago I was a sales rep for cosmetical ingredients. Meaning that I worked with major companies to bid on what was in their products to sell them and learned many things about them. I worked for no cosmetic company but sold the ingredients they needed to them from a broker who supplied them in large quantities.
Some things are fairly interesting…like the companies who put an inert and non-working ingredient into their products that tingle because we equate “tingling” with doing something. Or those who use cheaper ingredients that are mostly fillers. Or water as the first and primary ingredient. I learned much.
At that time I was always impressed with Olay as a company because, not only did they always seem to purchase quality ingredients and not use fillers as their main ingredients, but their cosmetic scientists seemed to always put whatever was the newest research into the products before others did and at a better price.
As a consumer, I just turned 43. That changes everything, doesn’t it? Unfortunately! The changes…are…in my facial lines. And that makes what I put on my face even more important. Because I still read up on what’s out there in the market even though I no longer work in that field, I already knew the original Regenerist and the Olay ProX actually did show better results in not only their own tests but many independant ones as well…even ones on the Today show that showed the changes in facial lines measured and photographed for a few weeks on the more expensive lotions and Olay. Google it for info. I’m sure it’s all still floating around on the ‘net.
I don’t remember all lotions it was up against but I do know it beat out La Prarie’s $650 moisturizer because we worked with them.
Okay, so knowing all that, I was using the regular Regenerist and the ProX occasionally and actually had not heard a peep about this cream anywhere at all so to be able to personally try it out was like Christmas in June for me.
I wanted to use it about a month before I gave a full report, which is what I have done.
Here’s the fun part: I only used it on half my face. I mean, how else could I know for sure if any changes or breakouts were the fault of Olay or coincidence, right?
So here’s my report, and trust me, much as I love Olay’s products of the past, I am totally unbiased and if I hated it I’d say I hated it.
1. sensitivity: I have VERY sensitive skin. I actually refuse antibiotics because they make my face break out like I’m having a second puberty. It seems close to everything makes my face break out. Although Olay hadn’t caused breakouts in the past for me which is another reason I always trusted it, I worried that the sunscreen addition would because I can’t wear sunscreens on my face because of that. I can’t say my face was flawless during the whole time because I did get a pimple on my cheek while testing this but during a month that is pretty normal for me to have one. I had no other breakouts or bumps at all so I’d say that’s actually BETTER than normal with the sensitivity of my skin
2. sunblock: this is, I know, imperative at my age. However most other moisturizers have minimal sunscreen protection. An spf of 25 is very unusual and, considering I spent a whole day in the 103 degree Texas sun over the 4th of July and my face was totally protected…wow, it works!
3. moisturizing: I didn’t measure the lines on my face. I didn’t have time to be that scientific…but I can tell you right now I’m switching to this cream. There is a noticeable difference in my opinion of just looking at my right side vs left in improvement. Now that’s not scientific measurement but it’s enough for me to be a believer
4. consistency: It is thicker than other creams but that’s because of the sunscreen and it means it not only stays on but isn’t watered down with water and/or glycerin. I liked it.
5. Scent: In all honesty, some other Olay creams were too perfumed for me. I know some other reviewers said this had a smell but I detected none…it seemed to have no added perfume at all in mine. I guess you need to smell for yourself. I thought it unscented. ??
6. Packaging: Because it comes in a pump, you do not contaminate your lotion with bacteria from your hands. Olay has some other products that are not in pumps and I always prefer the pump personally because of this. Far better for your face.
Because of the past studies on Olay and the ingredients they use, I actually used Olay products even when I could get the ones that cost hundreds of dollars more free since I worked in the industry and samples were handed out every day.
Now that I have to pay for my cosmetics and lotions I take the knowledge I gained when buying any kind of acne treatment, moisturizer etc and make my choices on that even more than…

|Okay cream, but wouldn’t be my first choice,
I’ve been looking for a new facial lotion, and had the opportunity to try the Olay Regenerist, advanced anti-aging via the Vine program. I’m a very fair skinned woman (get more so each year I spend in Seattle) in my mid-30s, and starting to become more concerned about aging as well as balancing that with good environmental/health choices. Since makeup is not well regulated in the US, I like to do some research on the chemicals and their potential health effects.
First, aesthetically, the lotion is white and pretty thick – very similar to a sunscreen. I did not notice on the box or as part of the description that it was a CREAM, and it definitely fits the bill. It’s easy to get good coverage over your face because of this; some facial mosturizers/sunscreen are very watery. The fragrance is the typical Olay smell, but is a lot more potent, in my opinion. I’d applied the lotion, then my makeup and had breakfast. My husband was about 5 feet away and he asked me if I could identify that strange smell. It was the Olay.
Homosalate, the main ingredient, does bioaccumulate and is on a watch list for Japan and Canada. All of the main ingredients are categorized as medium hazard by the Environmental Working Group’s Cosmetic database. The product was not listed in the database, so I looked up individual ingredients to decide if this was a product that I’d consider continuing to use. It contains BHT, which is a chemical I’ve been trying to avoid.
I also found it a bit ridiculous that the side of the box says “Children under six months of age: consult a doctor.” Would people really use this (and anti-aging product) on their kids?! On the plus side, the package was easy open, and the plastic is recyclable.
The SPF is 25, which means that for me, if I were spending a day in the sun, I’d either have to take this with me, or reapply something else. It wouldn’t be sufficient to keep me from getting burned. It’s also not clear *WHICH* UV rays it blocks: UVA, UVB, or both.
Other than that, my skin did feel hydrated when I had applied it. I experienced a small breakout as my skin got used to the heaviness of the cream, but my skin adjusted.
Overall, I think the product is fine and would work for many people. Given the strength of the fragrance, the SPF 25, the BHT, and wanting a product that blocks both UVA and UVB, I probably will not be purchasing this cream for myself.

|I don’t like the scent of this,

I’ve been using this cream daily for around 2 months and I haven’t noticed any changes in my skin, although I certainly don’t expect my fairly young-looking skin to transform magically back to skin like a 20 year old. I have sensitive, normal-to-dry skin and this moisturizes well enough for the summer, but I doubt if it will be enough to keep me hydrated when the furnace kicks on. It goes on smoothly due to it having some silicone added, soaks in quickly, and doesn’t dry sticky at all.
However, I really hate the scent. Maybe I’m a little more sensitive to fragrances in my skincare products than the average person. The scent of this is herbal/medicinal, and it lingers way longer than I like it to. And yes, it has SPF 25, I do applaud Olay for upping the SPF in this product over most of their others which have an SPF 15.
This product has some parabens in it as preservatives, but I don’t worry much about those. I’ve been using skincare with parabens for 20 or so years, and they haven’t hurt me yet. What I don’t like and it really upsets me is Olay still tests on animals when there is no reason to do this – there are plenty of other ways to test without having to dab this in the rabbits’ eyes.
